Protege GX and Yellowbox: Working Together
Protege GX is a comprehensive access control and security system known for its reliability, scalability, and strong security protocols. Organisations around the world use it to manage building access, monitor security events, and protect people and assets. Its ability to support complex sites, multiple locations, and large user bases has made it a trusted choice for organisations that require both flexibility and robust protection.
Now, this proven system connects directly with the Yellowbox smart locker platform. Staff can use the same RFID cards or fobs they already rely on for door access to also open lockers. Through the Yellowbox API, Protege GX user data and RFID numbers are automatically synchronised, ensuring locker access is always aligned with organisational policies and updated as part of the normal onboarding and offboarding process.
Why the Integration Matters
For Yellowbox, integrating with Protege GX means aligning with one of the most established and widely adopted security platforms in the market. Many organisations already rely on Protege GX as the foundation of their security infrastructure. By connecting directly with this system, Yellowbox extends trusted access control into workplace storage.
This integration allows organisations to avoid managing a separate process for lockers or issuing additional credentials. Instead, Yellowbox becomes part of the existing access control strategy, reducing complexity for administrators while improving convenience for staff.
Key Benefits for Organisations
- One credential for all access: staff use the same card for doors and lockers
- Automated user management: integration keeps systems aligned without extra effort
- Enhanced security: trusted Protege GX protocols extend to workplace storage
Innovation in Smart Storage
Yellowbox is a leader in locker lock technology and software. The integration with Protege GX strengthens that position, delivering a secure and convenient solution that unifies access control and storage in one system. For organisations, this means improved efficiency, and a better workplace experience for staff.

FAQ's
Can a smart locker system integrate with our access control?
The better systems integrate directly with common access control and identity platforms, and with a company active directory, so staff use one credential and provisioning happens automatically when people join or leave.
Can I use my existing access card to unlock a locker?
A good smart locker solution should let you use the access cards people already carry. The same RFID swipe card or employee badge that opens the building can unlock a locker: the user taps it on the reader to be authenticated and open their locker. This works through an integration with the building’s access control system, and also automates onboarding for new users.
Are smart lockers secure?
Security has two sides, data and physical. On the data side, a well-built system uses encryption, recognised security certifications such as ISO 27001, and an audit log of who accessed which locker and when, and access can be revoked instantly if a card or phone is lost or stolen. On the physical side, a good locker lock is built to resist force, with Yellowbox's wired locks rated to withstand around 350 kg. However, not all systems are equally secure, so it is worth researching a provider's security credentials, hardware strength and data handling, and looking at the option to host data on your own servers.
How do you open a smart locker?
Ideally with a credential people already have: a building access card or RFID fob, a mobile app, a digital wallet pass (Apple or Google Wallet), a PIN, or a touchscreen kiosk. Some systems also allow access from workplace apps like Microsoft Teams or Outlook.
